What do you normally budget for holiday gifts? How much do you spend on your kids?
Hello, Friends. The question for the moment is this: How much do you budget for holiday gifts? How much do you spend on your kids?
I tend to think a lot of little gifts is better than one big one. I like to get one 'big' family gift for everyone then a bunch of stuff and things for the other presents.
I try to buy through the whole year....so its hard to give an exact amount.....I would guess I spend about $500.00 a year on everyone!! I try to make as many as I can.....and I always try to give more to people who need it than I do my own "very blessed" family.
I try to budget around $500.00 for EVERYBODY. Now, with the kids, I've realized that I need to spend more money on the older ones, than the younger ones. When they are very small you can get away with getting them smaller things...usually. But the older ones can tell you exactly what they want, and are probably even able to quote you the price. This last couple of years, I've averaged about $85.00-$95.00 on my oldest child. And maybe about $20.00 less than that on the others.
This year we plan on spending $50 on each kid. I don't have that many kids however so this is pretty resonable. Haven't decided if we are getting one big thing or a few little things with that money. Our Holiday budget isn't really that specific. We have 9 nieces and nephews to buy for and I try to keep those gifts between $10-$15 a piece. Normally my hunny and I don't exchange gifts- we do steal away for dinner and a movie though.
I posted last night saying that I budget around $500.00 for everyone, but I was calculating, and I would say that it is probably closer to $650.00. And I try to start Christmas shopping usually around September... easier on the budget.
We are trying to spend less this year. In years past we have spent somewhere around $1,500 and $3,000 on presents. That includes family and everyone else
